How Can You Do Your Jeans Tighter

Jeans can be quite tricky — they may fit your legs perfectly but be really loose around your waist area, making them hard to wear. To solve this problem, 5-Minute Crafts will show you how you can tighten your jeans easily without having to do any sewing.

How to Make Your Jeans Tighter

Step 1

Measure an elastic so it goes all around your waist area.

Step 2

Subtract a few inches from there. Cut it in that spot since the piece you’ll end up with will be smaller than the waist measurement.

Step 3

Step 4

Take your jeans, turn them inside out, and make cuts in the areas indicated in the picture (a bit outside of the button area) until you create a hole.

Note: Make sure you’re only cutting the inside of the jeans.

Take your elastic and attach a safety pin to one of the ends.

Step 5

Fit the elastic through one of the holes and go all the way through until you meet the other end. Keep folding and stretching the elastic throughout the hole so you can slide it.

Note: The best technique to do this is to pull the safety pin since the elastic doesn’t slide very easily.

Step 6

Once the elastic reaches the other end, take the safety pin off and cut the excess material. You don’t need too much — it should be just enough to fit a safety pin or a button.

Step 7

Pull the elastic as much it’s needed, and take 2 safety pins, placing them where you want the elastic to stop, one on each side. Alternatively, and if you have more time, you can attach a button to each side and make a little hole in the elastic so you can fit the button on.

Flip the jeans and you’re good to go.
